The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)

We’re starting off with a more recent one, in the list of conjuring films that have come out, this is the most recent one with ‘The Devil Made Me Do It’ The movie is the eighth entry in the Conjuring Universe and a sequel to The Conjuring (2013) and The Conjuring 2 (2016). As writers and paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga return in the film together. The film is based around demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, as the movie starts with them exorcising 8-year-old David Glatzel, attended by David’s family, his sister’s boyfriend, Arne Johnson, who asked after a struggle during the exorcism that the demon takes his soul, and does so. Meanwhile, Ed, has a heart attack during the exorcism, causing him to be rushed to hospital, but des see the demon transport itself into Arne’s body. Ed tells Lorraine that he saw the devil inhabit Arne’s body when he awakens at the hospital the following month. She summons the police and informs them that a catastrophe would take place at the Glatzel home. Arne kills his landlord Bruno Sauls after feeling ill. With the Warrens’ backing, his case becomes the first murder trial in the United States to use demonic possession as a defence, sparking an inquiry into David’s first possession. Later, the Warrens meet with Kastner, a former priest who had previously dealt with the Disciples of the Ram cult and learn of a diabolical curse transmitted by a witch’s totem. With other deaths occurring around the country, the Warrens travel to Massachusetts for some investigating, where they will come in contact with the Ram cult and the nature of their satanic rituals, making this one of the scariest horror movies.

IT (2017)

We’ve all heard of the original Killer Clown ‘IT’ released by Stephen King, but in 2017, he reminded us of how scary this clown was. Remade from the original in 1986, the movie is about a horrifying, unimaginable shape-shifting monster, who often takes the look of a clown to lure children away before brutally killing them. The creature only comes out of hiding every 27 years and is called Pennywise in his clown form. However, IT’s reign of terror is due to be put to an end, as seven kids, labelling themselves ‘The Losers Club’ decide to face their ultimate fears and put a stop to Pennywise’s Evilness. Some of the scariest and best bits of the movie IT are the visual effects created by the monster when he shapes shifts into someone’s worst nightmares or when he’s brutally murdering someone, making this one of the scariest horror movies ever. There was an IT 2 released in 2019 which surrounded the same kids grown up from the first movie, however, this one received significantly fewer positive reviews.

Paranormal Activity

This is without a doubt one of the finest horror films to see right now for a film with a $15,000 budget! Katie recognises she is dealing with the same paranormal activity that has plagued her since childhood as she and Micah, a San Diego couple, hear weird cries and doors banging in their home. In an effort to record any ghostly activity, they decide to place up cameras. After utilising the constraints of a limited budget to its advantage, Paranormal Activity received significant appreciation from both audiences and reviewers. A “found footage” method of filming is used in the unsettling film to give the narrative credibility. With its peculiar shooting technique and authentic vibe, “Paranormal Activity” offers you an unsurpassed sense of dread. It actually makes you feel like you’re viewing a genuine video, which makes this one of the most unique and scariest horror movies.
